Removal of benign & malign skin tumours

If a doctor’s consultation revealed the indication for the removal of a skin alteration, you will first be explained all treatment steps appropriate in your case (surgery, laser ablation, curettage). Diagnosing the skin alteration to be treated thoroughly is imperative for this and necessarily includes the determination of its dignity (benign or malignant).

The treatment of skin cancer (basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, malignant melanoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, Kaposi sarcoma and others) is one of the main emphases of our practice (see “Treatment of Skin Cancer”).

The surgical removal of skin cancer can be carried out as outpatient treatment for the majority of patients. Depending on size and localisation of the tumour as well as the expected surgery duration, the procedure may be performed under local anaesthesia or, if necessary, general anaesthesia. Especially in case of the need for the removal of an either widespread tumour or a tumour on aesthetically demanding body regions (e.g. the face), wound closure is executed in consideration of plastic surgical criteria and held up to the highest aesthetical standards.

All operations can either take place as outpatient treatment at DERMATOLOGIKUM BERLIN or as inpatient procedures at a nearby private clinic where the patient can spend one or more nights after his surgery.

For patients who had a surgical procedure at DERMATOLOGIKUM BERLIN we have an emergency telephone number which is being forwarded to one of the physicians. This telephone number is handed out to the patient in the individual case.

For the removal of benign skin alterations (pedunculated warts, aging spots, virus warts, lipomas, sebum cysts, pigmentations and others) both modern laser procedures and surgical options are available. Which method is expedient in each particular case will be explained to you during a consultation session with your physician.
