• Medical studies in Essen as well as Munich; obtaining of the license to practice medicine by Munich University in 1987; American state examination in the same year
• Afterwards research associate at the immunogenetic laboratory of the institute of immunology of Munich University
• 1989 doctorate summa cum laude about the immunogenetic basics of “erythema exsudativum multiforme”, a rare postinfectious skin reaction
• Between 1988 and 1990 scholarship holder of the German Research Association at the immunological laboratory at the university dermatology clinic Innsbruck
• Further dermatological training at the university dermatology clinic Würzburg
• 1996 appointment as senior physician with main focuses on allergology and oncology (melanoma)
• Establishment of the research group “biology of epidermal Langerhans cells and dendritic cells” and first successful cancer vaccination on humans with melanoma and on children with glioblastima
• 2001 to 2004 board member of the working group for dermatological research of the German Society of Dermatology; 2002 elected chairman of the board
• 2002 guest professor at Duke University, North Carolina, USA and immunological director of Merix Biotech Company for the production of cellular vaccinations
• 2003 call to a C3 professorship at Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen for “strategies of cellular immunotherapy”
• As coordinator of the skin cancer centre responsible for its certification in 2010 and more than 20 research projects with new drugs (Sorafenib, Vemurafenib, Dabrafenib, Trametinib, Nivolumab and Ipilimumab among others) for the treatment and prevention of skin cancer
• All in all, 17 years of clinical experience as senior physician in the university hospitals mentioned above with responsible management of the dermatological polyclinics and multiple specialised consultation hours (allergology and melanoma/oncology among others)
• 2013 foundation of DERMATOLOGIKUM BERLIN together with Professors Trefzer, Reich and Steinkraus
