The formation of a scar is part of a functioning wound healing process. In the course of our lives, events such as cuts, burns, inflammatory skin diseases (e.g. acne vulgaris) or surgeries leave marks on our bodies. These scars do not only impair the appearance of the skin visually but can also cause itching, the feeling of tension, pain or mobility limitations.<\/p>\n

Scar development differs from person to person. Distinctions are made between the following scar types:<\/p>\n
